The Lakelands Action Group (L.A.G.) was established in late 2006 in response to the problems initially encountered on the George Wimpey section of phase1 of the Lakelands estate.
Following a meeting at Colchester Town Hall on the 19th July 2007, it was proposed and agreed that if the LAG were to truly represent the residents living at Lakelands then it must seek the views and comments of all the residents on the entire estate.
On the 28th July 2007 the LAG website and e-mail link went live to allow problems to be reported and shared, and for information and updates to be made instantly available to fellow residents.
The LAG has, and will continue, to work closely with its sister association, the Northern Approach Action Group (N.A.A.G.). This is another residents association established and run by those residing on the new estate off the Northern Approach Road. Many of the problems encountered at Lakelands have already been successfully resolved by the NAAG and this experience can be used to prevent work from being duplicated, and speed up the resolution of issues.
As the plans for phases 2 & 3 reach their final stages it is imperative that those residents who are concerned about how the estate will be developed are actively involved by writing letters and attending meetings.
We will use this website as a noticeboard and conduit for crucial information regarding meeting dates, and the latest proposals so that all can have a say. Many promises and expectations of how the finished development will look already appear to have been broken as the developers pursue their aims of maximum houses using the minimal amount of land, otherwise known as high density housing, or ‘Essex Build’.
